Howard Suber on Despair and Success

Here is a great interview with Howard Suber, lecturing in Japan, talking about what makes a writer or filmmaker successful–

His book The Power of Film is well worth reading.

This reminds me of what NBC’s Bob Dotson tells audiences of young reporters. Success is not being dealt a great hand and playing it well; most of us will have that experience from time to time. Long term success is figuring out how to play the mediocre hand that you are dealt every day as best as is humanly possible.
