The highest praise a reviewer can give a novel is that it is “cinematic.” A great story unfolds like a movie in the reader’s mind. That’s what every film script must do as well. Tracy Flick and Hillary Clinton – Power of Conscience

Submitted by Laurie Hutzler on January 27, 2009 – 12:00 AMNo Comment

Tracy-Flick-Hillary-Clinton-EtbScreenwritingThere’s been a recent controversy over the New York Senate seat vacated by Hillary Clinton. After a contentious selection process, Caroline Kennedy withdrew her candidacy. The eventual choice was Congresswoman Kirsten Gillibrand. She has been described by detractors as a “Tracy Flick.”

Tracy Flick (Reese Witherspoon) in the movie Election is a great example of an intense and driven Power of Conscience character.  Gillibrand supporter, Hillary Clinton is also a Power of Conscience character.

I just found a fantastic clip of Tracy and Hillary intercut in a scene from Election.  It is hilarious and a wonderful sketch of everything that is most important to this Character Type.

Power of Conscience characters believe that leadership must be earned by dedication, hard work, thorough preparation and devotion to duty.  Leadership must be deserved. One must be worthy in order to lead.
